The third annual JAM Musician Awards kicked off June 15th, when the nominations opened for the 2023 honors. To nominate your favorite jazz musician, click on the following link, fill out the form and submit it: http://www.kcjazzambassadors.org/jamjazzawards.
The final voting will begin in September, with the awards announced on December 13th, 2023, 7pm at Johnnie’s Downtown, in conjunction with the Jazz Ambassadors annual meeting, and our December Future of Jazz concert. Make plans now to join us for the fun.
“It’s a great way to recognize the Kansas City jazz musicians you enjoy all year long,” explained KCJA president David Basse. “If you like a particular drummer, vocalist, or saxophone player, nominate him or her—it’s an honor!”
Nominations are open for nine different instruments, plus your favorite big band, jazz radio host, nightclub, and concert venue. New this year, is the “Jazz Vocalist/Instrumentalist” category.
Only one nomination form may be submitted by each voter.
“This is about your favorite musicians, as nominated and selected by the Kansas City jazz community,” explained KCJA board member Herschel McWilliams. “We’re hoping to get even more folks participating in 2023.” Go ahead, tell your friends, we want to hear from each and every jazz fan in the area!
