
With our big time summertime outdoor jazz festival on vacation for now, here’s some local favorites airing out their chops this summer. The Ward Parkway Center, 8600 Ward Parkway, KCMO has a free music series 7pm-9pm each Friday and Saturday through September 24th. Trumpeter Stanton Kessler and pianist Roger Wilder are there July 23rd and September 2nd and flutist, Jazzy Jazz is there August 20th and September 3rd.
For a happening set of KC blues, Ward Parkway features drummer & vocalist Jaisson Taylor with guitar slinger Brandon Hudspeth on September 23rd and singer songwriter Phil Wang in a solo set on July 29th. https://kcparent.com/events/summer-concert-series-at-ward-parkway/ shows the full line-up and a list of eateries adjacent to the stage.
When they built Zona Rosa, They added a Central Park specifically for outdoor summer concerts. The concept proved an immediate success for Zona Rosa, which can be found at 8640 North Dixson, just off of I-29 North - at the Barry Road exit. The Zona Rosa series happens Fridays, 6:30pm – 8:30pm through August 4th – Howard Mahan is there July 21st, find more at ZonaRosa.com/Events
