“We Always Swing” Jazz Series

The “We Always Swing” Jazz Series biggest fundraising effort of their season began November 30, with #GivingTuesday and will extend through December 31 during their CoMoGives campaign. For almost a decade, the Jazz Series has focused nearly all its fundraising efforts into the December CoMoGives campaign. “The generosity of our donors during CoMoGives cannot be overstated,” says Josh Chittum, assistant director at the Jazz Series. “Without CoMoGives and the support of our community, we simply wouldn’t be able to exist.” CoMoGives is administered by the Community Foundation of Central Missouri, which serves as a clearing house for end of year giving for more than 100 nonprofits in and around Columbia, MO. For the past few years, the Jazz Series has sought to use this campaign to not only raise money but also unify the country in the spirit of Jazz. Instead of states being Red or Blue, the Jazz Series seeks to turn each state Green by attracting a tax-deductible donation from all 50 states. Their campaign last year raised more than $75,000 from 33 states. The Jazz Series again hopes to raise $75,000 during the month of December, but is on a mission to receive a donation from every state in the union.

“We’re always excited to turn a new state green,” says Jon Poses, executive director at the Jazz Series. “We’ve never been able to nail down a few states such as North Dakota and New Hampshire; it would be great if we could hit our goal of all 50 states this year.” The minimum contribution one can make is just $10, hardly anything to turn your state Green in the name of preserving Jazz. So if you or someone you know would like to turn a state green on the Jazz Series map during CoMoGives please visit and make a secure, tax-deductible contribution today. Your generosity will ensure the “We Always Swing” Jazz Series is able to continue to present the world’s greatest musicians in Mid-Missouri.
