Voting Now Open for the 2022 Jam Awards

While 2022 is a big election year, you can’t have more fun voting than for your favorite Kansas City jazz saxophonist, guitarist, vocalist, club—a total of fourteen different categories—in this year’s JAM Musician Awards. And you don’t have to wait until November—voting has already begun at http://www.kcjazzambassadors.org/jazzawards2022

“This is our second-year highlighting Kansas City’s favorite jazz musicians, as determined

by local jazz fans themselves,” explained KC Jazz Ambassadors board member Linda McShann.

“It’s a chance for jazz lovers to recognize their favorites in a whole host of categories.”

Last year’s winners included KC jazz favorites Charles Williams, Bobby Watson, and the KC Jazz Orchestra. This year, more than two hundred fifty nominations were collected, out of which the top four or five in each category were selected for the final ballot.

“All the ballots are secret,” explained KCJA board member Herschel McWilliams, who set up KCJA’s on-line voting system. “We ask for email addresses to make sure no one votes more than once.”

Voting will continue until November 30, 2022. KC’s favorites jazz musicians will be announced on Wednesday, December 14 at Johnnie’s Jazz Club, 14th and Main in Downtown KC, MO.

“UMKC’s terrific jazz ensemble will perform that night,” commented KCJA board member Jason Goudeau. “There’s no cover charge and lots of great music. We’re hoping the jazz community will all come together on December 14 to celebrate jazz in Kansas City and honor these favorite artists.”

Vote for your favorite KC Jazz musician right now!
