Future of Jazz Concerts Continue with February 8th Showcase

KC Jazz Ambassadors’ Future of Jazz series continues Wednesday, February 8 at Johnnie’s Jazz Club, 14th and Main in downtown Kansas City. Jim Mair’s KCK Community College Jazz Ensemble will be on the bandstand from 7 to 9pm. There is no cover charge at Johnnie’s; restaurant and full bar services are available.

“Our Tommy Ruskin Scholarships have been an important part of the Jazz Ambassadors’ programming for year,” commented KCJA board member Linda McShann. “The Future of Jazz series expands our commitment to providing scholarships by engaging directly with the many fine jazz programs in area colleges and universities.”

Following the Feb 8 engagement, you can catch Future of Jazz Tuesday club gigs on March 8 and April 12. The March engagement welcomes back the jazz ensemble from Ottawa University, while April’s date winds up the Spring 2023 semester with another visit from UMKC’s fine jazz ensemble.

The KCJA Future of Jazz series is funded by Kansas City Jazz Ambassador members, who contribute thru their annual dues to the organization’s scholarship and Musicians Assistance Fund.
