Booker T and the MGs were created to back-up the wonderful R&B talent in Memphis at STAX Records, in the old Capitol Theater on McLemore Avenue in 1961. Back then guitarist Steve Cropper, of Blues Brothers fame, and drummer Al Jackson, joined with Booker T to create the now highly regarded and now ubiquitous Memphis Sound. Think, Otis Redding, Rufus Thomas, Eddie Floyd, and Isaac Hayes. Booker T is a walking, talking American music history lesson.

Saxophonist and composer Tia Fuller is an accomplished improviser and engaging educator. A member of Beyonce’s female touring band and a celebrated recording artist for Mack Avenue Jazz in her own right, Ms. Fuller takes a backseat to no one in the world of jazz. She released her very first recording, Pillar of Strength in 2005. That independent release brought her talent to the attention of Detroit’s Mack Avenue Jazz label in 2007, where she recorded Healing Space and 3 other titles. In 2018 she recorded Beauty and Mystery with Terri Lyne Carrington, and John Patitucci.
