www.wealwaysswing.org “We are so tremendously happy to be back with a complete schedule,” said Jon Poses, Jazz Series Executive and Artistic Director. “We think we have orchestrated another exciting, varied, engaging and of course entertaining Jazz Series season.
Once again, shows will be split between Murry’s Jazz Club, Rose Music Hall and the Missouri Theatre. Missouri Theatre shows include Jane Bunnett & Maqueque October 23 and Jazz at Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis Feb 23, 2022.
“Wynton turns 60 in mid-October,” added Poses. “He was all of 24 years old when he made his first appearance in town. It will be great to have him and JALC Orchestra back to perform. They’re keeping the repertoire under wraps for now, which is great. We’ll all hear new music together.”
Notables headlining Murry’s include Emmet Cohen, Orrin Evans, and the Mingus Big Band. Dave Stryker’s “Guitar-Organ Explosion,” among other shows, comes to the Rose Music Hall.
Packages of all concerts, Murry’s shows and other combinations are on sale now at www.wealwaysswing.org.
Patrons will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative (if unvaccinated) test within 72 hours of all events. Masks will also be required regardless of vaccination status.
“Like all arts organizations, you can’t ignore the pandemic’s staying power or impact,” explained Poses. “After considering our options we decided to o begin the season and extend it out until late May. The pandemic forced us to revisit our presenting time frame.”
