The Folly Jazz Series is Moving Out of 2020

Updated: Sep 4, 2020

By James Maiden

As the Folly staff continues to stay ever observant on the COVID-19 health regulations we have determined that moving forward with the previously scheduled October 17th and December 12th Folly Jazz concerts wouldn’t make sense both for health safety and financial reasons. Only being able to seat approximately 200 patrons when socially-distanced would make it difficult to cover our most basic costs for each concert. The October 17th Karrin Allyson concert will be moved to January 22nd and the December 12th David Benoit concert has been postponed until next season.

Over the next few weeks, our team will reach out to all ticket holders for the two changed concerts. We hope that our patrons will be able to attend the new date for Karrin Allyson. If not, we encourage them to consider donating the cost of their tickets back to the Folly, especially now as the Folly has lost over 80 performances accounting for nearly half of our annual operating revenue. The option for a refund will be available until September 30th for Karrin Allyson. Refunds for David Benoit will be issued over the next 3 weeks (unless the patron would like to donate their ticket cost back to the theater).

We know that this is disappointing news to all our amazing patrons that were looking forward to attending a live event and we hope to see you all soon. In the meantime, know that the Folly team is working hard on some new projects to fill your 2020 with some fun arts engagement. Stay tuned by signing up for our emails at FollyTheater.org or following us on Facebook!

You can find the new Folly Jazz Series schedule below or by visiting FollyTheater.org!

For questions or concerns, ticketholders can contact the Folly Box Office at 816-474-4444 or email Kaelyn@FollyTheater.org. To purchase tickets to any of these or other upcoming performances, you can visit FollyTheater.org or call 816-474-4444.

From all of us, thank you all for your patience and flexibility during this time. As a small, nonprofit organization, we need your help more than ever. Donating the cost of your tickets, purchasing a #FollyLove mask, or making a monetary donation will help us to continue the Folly's legacy as a venue for all voices and to prepare to reopen in 2021! In the meantime, stay tuned to our email and Facebook as we are beginning work on a new project to help you get your musical fix during this downtime!
