Next KCJA Meet Up Tuesday, February 8

KC Jazz Ambassadors will get together at Johnnie’s Jazz Club, 14th and Main, on Tuesday, February 8 from 7-9pm to support the “Future of Jazz” with our special guests the UMKC Conservatory Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Carl Allen. There is no cover charge; a full bar and restaurant menu are available for jazz fans to wet their whistles and chow down during the students’ two sets.

The Conservatory students will be followed March 8 by a jazz ensemble from Ottawa University in nearby Baldwin, KS, where the jazz program is headed up by well-known saxophonist Todd Wilkinson. For each Future of Jazz Tuesday night program, the Jazz Ambassadors donate $500 to the school’s foundation, for distribution to jazz students who earn scholarships in that area.

Contributions to the Future of Jazz program are welcome. Visit www.kcjazzambassadors.org and use the tip jar to make a contribution. KCJA membership dues are distributed between the scholarships programs and the organization’s Musician Assistance Fund, to help out local jazz players in need.
